Was anyone else on here a member? This was, hands down, the best music community I ever belonged to. I don’t know of anything else out there that compares.

No and I’m pissed I wasn’t. I could have found a bunch of stuff I am looking for there most likely, but am not able to find through ‘legal’ channels.

It’s almost as if there should be a place on the internet where people can /buy/ rare and obscure music for reasonable prices in high quality formats like 320kbps MP3 or FLAC files. Hmmm...

Yup. Was great. I haven’t pirated any music since I started using Spotify Premium, though. It’s an amazing service.

There was a lot of stuff there that wasn’t available anywhere else. Literally, gone now.

Just as a place to find new stuff and talk music nerd-dom, what a loss

And that makes so furious. It’s not like they can’t monetize this. None of this is difficult to do. Instead of all the disparate parties arguing over who gets how much, maybe they can settle for getting something at all. That is more than nothing, which is what they have been getting thus far. A group like that doesn’t exist only to pirate. Plenty of people involved would have bought that music if it was available anywhere else legally.

Fucking assholes. I despise the greedy fucking labels and truly wish their offices would burn down. After we, the collective we as society, were able to compile the entirety of recorded music online and available for purchase without the label being involved.

Fuckers.

Exactly, the organizational system was top notch. Better than I’ve ever seen. Multiple releases (years, regions, pressings, ect) for everything in every audio format with strict quality control and a robust issue reporting system. I’d have paid, subscription based, album based, whatever. I actually trusted it more to give quality sources than any of the mainstream online storefronts.

But it’s more than that. There was a whole collection of artists that would leak stuff early there for feedback. What actually made it pretty easy for artists to gain membership. I mean there was piracy, yes. But never have I seen such a collection of music fanatics and people who actually give a shit about audio quality. A lot of these guys were sitting on giant collections of vintage/rare vinyl too.
